Lok Sabha Election Results 2019 likely to be delayed due to tallying of VVPAT slips
The Lok Sabha Election Results 2019 are likely to get delayed due to the process of tallying the Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips of five EVMs instead of one in each assembly, as per the ruling of the Supreme Court. Generally, counting of votes using one VVPAT takes around an hour. With the addition of four more VVPAT, this time would go up by four hours.
The Indian National Congress and the Bhartiya Janata Party have fielded over 50 women candidates each in the Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Despite this, the percentage of women candidates is still low in comparison to the total nominated candidates. Apart from these parties, only two parties undertook serious steps to give women a powerful representation, which include Odisha’s Biju Janata Dal and West Bengal’s All India Trinamool Congress.
The 2019 elections are extremely significant for the ruling NDA government, which hopes to replicate its 2014 performance. While the stakes are high for the Narendra Modi- led Bharatiya Janta Party in most western, northern and eastern states, there are a few states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha that could change the political fortune of the national party.
While the Bhatiya Janta Party (BJP)-led NDA government is quite confident to repeat history of 2014 Lok Sabha Elections once again, the opposition parties like Indian National Congress (INC), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Samajwadi Party (SP), TMC and Telugu Desham Party (TDP) are also looking for majority win in Lok Sabha General Election results 2019.
