HRD Minister launches National Digital Library

The Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Prakash Javadekar launched the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) on June 19, 2018. The library aims to become a single window platform for all educational needs.

Objective: The main objective of the library is to integrate several national and international digital libraries in one single web-portal.

About National Digital library of India

The National Digital library of India (NDLI) is a project under Ministry of Human Resource Development, India.

The platform is an integrated one for schools, colleges, universities, teachers and students alike.

The library will provide free access to many books in English and other Indian languages.

It was launched in pilot form in May 2016.

At present, over 35 lakh e-books in more than 200 languages are available in the digital library.

Access

The library can be accessed at ndp.iitkgp.ac.in.

The User registration is open to users from around the world.

However, contents from some popular sources are only freely accessible to registered users.

Users would be able to register for free National Digital Library from Google Play store.
